In the game of golf, this is the absolute truth. The right clubs make a big difference in how well you can play the game. But the way you swing the club makes a much bigger difference. If you could play with the same clubs that Tiger Woods uses, do you think you could play as well as him...probably not. What if you could use the same golf coach as he uses but couldn't use a chiropractor like him...same story.
Golf great, Tiger Woods, is a wonderful example of what the benefits of chiropractic care can offer an athlete. Tiger Woods states, "lifting weights and seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis has made me a better golfer. I've been going to Chiropractors for as long as I can remember. It's as important to my training as practicing my swing.”
"Being a chiropractic patient has really helped me a lot," Tiger asserted . "When I was in a growth spurt, my back became very sore and I was weak. My chiropractor really helped me. Not only did he adjust my spine, he also gave me strengthening exercises to do. If you are tall and gangly, like I am, or play sports, I would recommend chiropractic."
If you want to improve your game, you can spend upwards of $600 on a new driver or $300 on a new putter. A wiser way to spend that money for most of us would be to spend it on lessons with your local golf professional. They can give you the skills to use those clubs to the best of your ability.
Here at the Spinal Care Center of Colorado, Dr. Struck uses the skills learned from the Titleist Performance Institute to assess a persons physical abilities and limitations as they pertain to the golf swing. Then a fitness program and or treatment program is recommended. These recommendations are specifically tailored to each individual according to their examination results. In short, your golf professional teaches you the skills needed to play the game well. We give the physical ability to do it. If you need a recommendation for a local golf teaching professional, please don't hesitate to ask.
If your golf swing causes you pain, whether it's back, hip, neck, ankle, wrist pain, ect., that's your body's way of telling you that something is wrong. Either your body is not strong or stable enough to swing the club, or you have a flaw in your swing that causes the pain, or both. In either case something must change. Taking care of the problem sooner will help ensure that you can play for a longer period of time.
Dr. Struck has been certified by the Titleist Performance Institute and specializes in golf performance, fitness, and rehab. If you need help with any physical pains caused by playing golf or simply want to improve your ability to play the game, please call and make an appointment for a consultation and physical evaluation.
